(Berlin, 21/02/2023) INAM – the Innovation Network for Advanced Materials, on behalf of Cambridge Display Technology (CDT), a Sumitomo Chemical Group Company, is proud to announce Enzyan Biocatalysis as the winner of the Innovations in Biocatalysis Challenge.

About Enzyan Biocatalysis

Enzyan Biocatalysis is a spinoff from the University of Graz in Austria which aims to provide its industrial partners the required tools for the implementation of green and economic biomanufacturing processes. They provide support in the identification, development, and optimization of more efficient and sustainable synthetic routes. Using cutting-edge computational and wet-lab tools, Enzyan tests the production of biocatalysts and characterises enzymes in view of their biocatalytic properties. This allows them to design biocatalytic routes and enzymatic cascades as well as identify optimal process parameters.

More about this challenge

This Open Innovation Challenge was based on one of the Sumitomo Chemical (SC) Group’s key priority; Green Transformation (GX). As part of this, biological alternatives to traditional high temperature and high-cost catalytic production methods were sought which produce valuable outputs from sustainable feedstocks in an efficient manner.
