#FounderFriday: Nanopattern Technologies - Commercializing Quantum Dot Ink for Micro-Displays

NanoPattern Technologies is commercializing a quantum dot ink that enables energy efficient full color microdisplays for AR/VR applications.

INAM was introduced to Yu Kambe, the CEO of Nanopattern Technologies during the 2019 AdMaCom program. Their innovative technology mixed with Yu's entrepreneurial spirit were the reason why they were an choice for our Advanced Materials Competition.

What makes Nanopattern Technologies innovative and special?

NanoPattern Technologies is manufacturing a sub 1 micron resolution photopatternable ink that enables electronics manufacturers to make displays that are 70 % more energy efficient and have a 50 % better color experience. Their patented ligand technology enables an ink that performs better than any current solution for photopattern nanoparticles.

Since AdMaCom, the team have been very busy. At the beginning of 2020, the team closed a $1M non-dilutive funding round to commercialize the Quantum Dot ink for tricolor micro-displays. Funding partners include the US Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and a Fortune 500 equipment manufacturer.

NanoPattern is a formulation company and will work with Quantum Dot and ligand materials suppliers to commercialize the ink. If you are a materials supplier interested in a potential partnership, please reach out by emailing Yu Kambe at yukambe@NanoPatternTechnologies.com.

Yu was also a guest on the Start Up the Science podcast during his visit here to Berlin last year. If you'd like to hear more about Nanopattern Technologies and their technology, have a listen to his episode: LISTEN NOW
